After taking my car out for its FIRST DRIVE!!!!! on saturday night, I managed (in time honoured tradition) to break it!
I thought I was gently rolling over a tiny rasied kerb but actually the kerb in question leapt up and bashed a hole in my sump.
Oil all over road - bits of aluminium at the bottom of the street......er oh!
So anyway - I ve got to pick an oil to fill it with now!
How about Castrol R4 Superbike?
The CBR 1000 is pretty much the only bike in the whole Castrol database which doesnt spec R4 as its recommended oil but all the CBR600RR and blades
and stuff run it so why cant I?
Any thoughts - what are you running?

You've got to use a bike oil if you have a bike engine otherwise the aditives can cause clutch slip on the bike's wet clutch. I just used ordinary castrol bike oil from a nearby halfords. I suppose some people will say that a particular brand or type is superior.
any of the named oils will be fine .
morris's oil never creamed up as fast as any of the other oils that we used,,not that that happened much,just on the daily user's that didnt
do the miles and get the engine warm .
Castrol R4 superbike was all I ever used in my bike... great oil
I use it in my bike too, never had problems with clutch or gear selection
I used Castol GPS and can highly recommend it, cause it's a lovely red colour and looks dead good all over the side of the road.
Much better than that black stuff you had in yours

Might have missed the point here but i used to run one of my strokers on Castrol R.....ooooo the smell is too die for but every other weekend i was freeing off the rings.....then at daft speeds it locked up the crank bearings....dry a s bone they were.....ummmm Castrol R no good for a road bike then
Wasnt Castrol R a 2 stroke mixing oil, I didnt think it was meant as a pure engine oil to sit in the sump.
As for putting Castrol R4 all over the tarmac, here's my effort at Anglesey a few years ago, note how good my line was round School corner even
whilst the sump plug was escaping and with oil on the rear tyres
My Oil Slick at Anglesey when Mr Sump-Plug escaped :(

I filled her full of R4 last night - the stuff smells really quite nice! Sort of honey-sweet!
Well heres to it staying in the sump a bit longer than 5 minutes this time....

Hang on Geoff, you can't tell me you bust your sump on Saturday at 5pm and by Tuesday night, you've chopped it and put it back on.
You did fix it didn't you, or did you think it was taking a lot of oil to fill it up

Its actually the second apex of School towards Abbots on this diagram, its a 90-100mph corner and you can't go out too far after the first
apex otherwise you never get back on line for the second apex and on to Abbots.
Its the same circuit that 5th Gear use BTW, so you can probably check my lines againt Tiffs to see how badly he does it

Never driven Snetterton apart from in TOCA2 but yep it is a similar kind of corner, although on the approach the horizon is the Irish sea about 200
yards in front of you which is a little disconcerting when turning in at ~100mph!
