Well took the car out for its first drive now that I have a exhaust fitted (many thanks Martin).
You can just feel the engine wanting to go.
No problems moving of from a standstill the hyd clutch works like a dream. The only problem was the accelerator pedal, you just have to touch it and
the engine revs like mad.
I may have to increase the pedal travel but never having driven a BEC before i dont know how much travel there should be.
How much pedal travel from idle to fully open do people have?
What a lovely looking car, Nice colours.
My trotter pedal is very light and has no feel, I am going to increase the sping load at the pedal end somehow. But travell is fairly like any car I
would say.
Try driving in your socks! seriously!

Not sure what engine you have but on the blade the bike trhottle connection at the carb end has a return cable. Basically I just replaced this with a
spring so that there is more feel as when you press the acc pedal you are pulling against the spring .
Hope that makes sense!!
Rich.
I have a ZX12 fitted and on the bike it has a similar return cable.
I dont have any problem with the feel of the accelerator just the overall travel of the pedal.
From idle to fully open the pedal only moves just over 40mm.
Probably just need to get used to it then, I'm sure you'll be fine.
BTW, car looks ace, love the colour!
Rich.
Cheers
You cant realy go wrong with the gulf colours on this shape of car.

So i take it that 40mm pedal movement is about the same as everyone else?
i have more like 80mm, but thats with a long top mounted pedal.
With the pedal movement I have at the moment I get about 3000 rpm with only 10mm of travel which feels like an on/off switch. I didnt want to drill
more holes in the bulkhead only to find that I need to re- educate my right foot
I have about 80mm+ & progression is sensible, I can drive in steel toecap workboots no problem!! I have disconnected return cable & use return
spring instead
Going by everyones replies I have taken the plunge and moved the cable closer to the pedal bearing. I now have about 60-70mm travel and the throttle
response is more controlled. I just need to connect an additional return spring before I take it out on another test drive.
Wow! Who did your paint? Must be worth a plug....
I'd agree on the excellent paint scheme. It looks a thousand times better than the multicolour scheme on the show car in your archive.
Are you still going to fit a rollbar?
Cheers
Fred WB
It was the bodywork and the chassis from the show car that I bought. The multi-colour paint scheme was removed after the show.
I have just fitted the role bar which Martin at MK Engineering made when he was manufacturing the exhaust.
I will post some more pictures in the next few days.
