Using R1 Speed sensor to feed DigiDash

Hi all.
Is that possible to use the speed sensor from the 2002/30 R1 to feed the Digidash?

A question relating to this has just been asked on the Yahoo forum - the guy was trying to find out how many pulses the speedo sensor output gives per revolution of the sprocket (guess you can then calculate road speed with driven wheel circumference & diff ratio).

The stock digidash one is so easy to fit, why bother?

It will probably invalidate your digidash warranty anyway, as its not an approved sensor, better safe than sorry

ISTR that when I fitted mine I asked Al (the chap who designed the Digidash) and he said it wouldnt work.

Don't mean to hi-jack thread but I've just fitted a digi dash 2 lite in my car. For some reason the speedo isn't reading and the gear indicator isn't working. I'm pretty sure the gear indicator is because it needs the speed to calculate.

The gap seems fine between the sensor and the magnets, I've used the cd to get the appropriate numbers but just get a reading of 0! The only thing I can think of at the moment is that I am still using the old magnets from my old ETB gauges. Any reason this would be a problem?

I assume you havent read the manual about magnet polarity...

You need to use the etb magnets and have them dot facing down...

Yes read that. They are not the magnets that came with dash but are ETB (came with my old etb gauges). Had assumed these would be the same. Need to check polarity next then.

Yup

Just try the etb magnets dot down towards them and see if they attract or repel..

If they repel, need to turn em round
