For those of you who showed an interest here is a picture of the modified std airbox. I know it looks a bit of a hotch-potch but it seems to work ok.
Well I think it does, it's just that the revs seem to run on a bit when you let off the throttle but it was doing this without the airbox so i
think it may just be a sticking slide, bearing in mind it's ages since the engines been run, at least 6 months if not more. Any ideas?
there are a couple more pics in my archive

I had loads of bother getting my engine to run properly, iit also had been stood a while, the petrol in the carbs had evaporated leaving some sort of scale blocking all the jets & making the needles stick
If I get time next week I'll take the float bowls off and give all the jets a good clean, cheers mucka.
If you had any shame whatsoever you'd have put a big sheet of plastic over the whole jap abortion.
That poor crossflow *snif*

If you're coming over in the week you'll be able to see the mess that used to be no.1 big end. Poor little bugger!
I had a similar problem with the over run. Mine was due to having too stiff throttle cable. Try keeping pressure on the lever where the cable attaches so that when you blip the throttle you push it straight back on to the stop. If that doesn't work it could also be the carbs out of balance.
Cheers I'll try both, I was going to balance the carbs anyway.
Nice job mate .... looks pretty good.
