Live or IRS best for BEC?
Correct me if i'm wrong, but from what i can gather there are a wider range (and bettere suited) of diff ratio choices if you use go IRS.
I would have thought that the Rally boys would have a pretty good selection of ratios for the Escort too?

You need a fairly high diff ratio for a BEC due to the bike's low overall gearing. A live axle is fine but realistically the only option you have
is the 3.54 diff, or 3.89 if you want a real buzzbox that tops out at about 105-110mph. MOst of the rally diffs will be a lot lower than this (higher
number, 4.4 etc) so not of much use, but anyway, thery only usually used standard ratios and dont have them specially made very often.
IRS in Sierra form you get more choice, there are 3.62, 3.38 and 3.14 available, although the latter one is fairly rare. You can also get some of them
as standard with a slipper diff in them which is an advantage, especially if you are going to take it on track.
De-dion would use the same diff assembly as a fully IRS car, the only differentce between IRS and De-dion is how the wheels connect to the chassis
basically.
Performance wise, the IRS is a little better on the road, but on track there isnt much to choose at all.

i have an MK with ford LSD, its for 99% road use and 1% donuts (at the mo)
