How have folk extended the HT leads on a Fireblade?

It would be rather difficult IMO - aren't they carbon cored? Ideally they should be replaced with longer ones.

i would have been under the impression you cant aswell.

just buy a set of new longer ones.

why do thy need to be longer?

I'm not 100% sure, so maybe someone else on here can confirm, but I think HT Leads need to be marked up as radio supressed to pass SVA. obviously not needed for standard ones as they are taken as OK already.

Like I say, I'm not sure though so worth checking but also thought worth mentioning.

I looked at getting longer HT leads made up and just pluging them back into the colipack/plug holders but none of my local motor factors sell lenths anymore they would how ever sell premade ones but these would be no good as they are to short and would cost loads as they have the ends molded onto them.

Im just gonna makesme brackets up to keep them close.

Edit: yeah they have to be marked as suppressed if not using the orignals

Pat, the ends on the Fireblade HT leads just unscrew and pull apart. You can then re-assemble with either 8mm or 7mm leads, cut to whatever length you prefer, although the 8mm leads will need shaving down to fit into the ends. The OEM stuff is 7mm. I'll see if I can find where we got ours from and let you know...............

Did mine myself if they are the ones off an early blade then u can a length of ht cable from a good motor factors and do it yourself they unscrew out of the cap and on the coil pack the knelled bit un dose with as set of piles just be careful not to damage them as they are tight

Hotwire 7mm Coil Leads from Merlin Motorsport

I'm sure they used to sell lead wire off the roll but if not, just work out what lengths you require and buy the most economical lengths for cutting down.

it looks like I'm at a similar stage to you in that I've just started to wire up the engine etc. and need to lengthen the HT leads.
So I'm also interested in this thread...
Anyway, I've taken apart an HT lead from its coil and it looks like its copper cored (not carbon.)
If you manage to source some HT lead and for some reason, you can only by it in long lengths then, perhaps, we could go 'halves' on it!
