Wiring Loom Help
Adam - 10/7/07 at 07:04 AM

Firstly would like to hi... ordered my MK Indy last week and just picked up my 2000 R1 engine.

Got stuck in staright away with the engine giving it a good clean. Now, i've started sorting out the wiring loom which came with the engine, seems to be a complete R1 loom. Can any body tell me what parts of the loom i need and what i can get rid of. Plus it has a datatool Veto evo alarm on it which i wish to remove as it looks in a bad way and it's another thing to go wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Adam

I've cut my 2001 loom right back to the ECU plug. It hasn't been a lot of fun but I couldn't face having unusued bike loom all over the car. Fortunately, I've just got power to the coils and the alternator-regulator wires left to do. Very much on the home straight. I just hope it all works!

Get a haynes manual and stare at it a lot - that's what I did.

Hi Adam you really need the chassis, so that you can lay the loom out and aim it in the direction it needs to go in the car

Id get some 7 core cable and extend the back lights to start with. also a haynes r1 manual

Hi Adam - welcome!

I'd agree with all the comments - get the Haynes manual and stare at it! You can also get a CD of the workshop manual from eBay for a couple of quid (I could copy it if you want it) and this allows you to zoom in and out of the wiring diagram which is great if you're my age!

Alternatively, you could build a custom loom but that's not so easy - don't ask how I know!

Thanks for the link work wasn't too happy when i took over the printer for an hour or two

Got home and had a good look at the loom, labelled it all up so it looks pretty straight forward.

Thanks again for all the help

Adam.
