Fireblade re-jetting - will it affect cat for SVA?

Hi.
I know the airbox/not airbox thing has been debated to death, but bear with me on this one!
I'm soon gonna start to build a MK Indy with a 99 Blade (carb) engine. It was my intention to run it without the airbox (so it'll fit under the bonnet), but to get the jets widened to compensate the mixture. I was also planning to rent a CAT from MK or someone for the SVA. I just wanted to know will the re-jetting make it harder to get the cat adjusted and get the car through the SVA?

No it won't make any difference, the lambda sensor/air bleed system only works at low revs . The mixture is set using the idle screws.

The airbox will fit under the bonnet with a little modification....I will get round to posting a pic of mine.............no problems with emissions.

Is that where you turn the airbox around 180 degrees? If it's a handy job I might run it like that (ie unjetted) for a while.

Thanks for that. I love the MK decal on the top of the airbox mod! By the way in the "airbox_lhs.jpg" there is some silver material by the side of the engine. Is this soundproofing?

looks like heat shielding to me.

yup, it's heat shield mat. I bought a length from Merlin to put on the inside of the side panel above the exhaust manifold to stop the fibreglass from distorting. I had enough left over to make a shield for the HT leads to stop them getting damaged. For the airbox mod I just removed the top flange off the filter and cut the airbox to suit. It doesn't really change the distance from bellmouth to airbox too much. The airbox has some ribs on the inside which are perfect for putting some S/S selftappers into to mount the ally top. I also fitted some rubber edge trim to the edge to seal onto the ally plate properly. I'll be at Donnington if anybody wants a look, (MK owners area??)

Cheers

Ben
