If i want to use the original speedo from the bike instrumentpanel i have to put the sensor just above some magnets on the sprocketadapter, but
what's the distance between the sensor and the magnets and how much magnets do i need to put on it?
And do they need to be strong?
And how accurate is the speed then?
Thanks.
Sebastian.
You need the sensor to be as close as possible, 2mm will do it, as for magnets, i got some from ebay for £5, i used one , broken into three pieces and
it reads 5mph to fast at 70mph, so it will pass the sva.
OK better it reads to fast than 5mph to slow otherwise the drives can become very expensive.
Do you have a picture of it?
Luckely i don't need to pass the SVA since i live in Holland and my car allready has a registration i did an engine swap from a 2.0 pinto to a
"03 ZX-9.
Small difference right
If its the standard zx9 sensor, you don't need magnets, it will pick up off anything that passes close to it, mine works off the bolts in the
sprocket adapter.
Al.
2nd Wadders, mine is a standard ZX9R sensor and it also reads off the prop bolts
Cheers
Ian
I did the same engine swap, massive difference if you ask me.
I dont have any pictures of it sorry, i just bent some ally round into a u shape, bolted it using the old sprocket cover bolt holes, and stuck the
magnets onto the adapter, works quite well.
OK guys thanks for the help so far.
And yes it's a massive change
and can't wait to get it on the road.
Does this help?
