R1 - Koso Gauges - Temp - Fan

Hi all,

Right started to wire in my Koso gauges today to my R1 2000 MK Indy. Now i have come across a problem.

1. Can i re use the temp sender thats in my Micra Rad (Micra sensor) or do i have to fit the sensor supplied with the gauge?
2. On the R1 loom the thermo couple goes back to the gauges and there is an out put for the fan, so i'm i right in thinking the gauges tell the fan when to turn on..... if this is the case how doe the koso gauge do this as it has no fan output?

Any advice would be great cause i'm pulling my hair out!

Thanks for the reply. Right, i figure i have to use the sensor provided to measure the temps for the KOS gauges. Thats fine, but i am still puzzled on how the fan works. There is a sensor with two wires in the micra rad which ulso has the micra fan fitted to it. How do i get the fan to activate once it's needed, i'm re using the r1 loom...hence i have the fan relay.

The fan works from the thermo switch fitted into the radiator which is simply an on / off switch cutting on and off at specified temperatures. You might need to check these temperatures used on a Micra against those used on the bike unless you are using the original sender fitted into the R1 radiator.

The guages are fed from one of the supplied sensors that you got with them. This needs to be fitted somewhere in the cooling system but is totally seperate from the fan switch which i think is what has thrown you. The ECU may also have a sensor somewhere measuring the coolant temperature - not sure on the carbed engines though
