Blade engine problems
Tudor (Ted) Miron - 12/10/03 at 04:11 PM

Hello All,
Just got the car on friday evening and had to take it to track for press test drive.
It was heavy raining so I desided to not let journalists drive - but passenger.
Had some dissapointing problems with engine. It was NOT working properly after 6000RPM - seems like air/fuel problems. Engine had standard airbox.
Any suggestions? Output shaft started to leak badly after few laps.
Also what would be your advise on upgrading the engine? Simple things?

Thank you
Ted

PS: Nice thing that it was fast enough to scare the sh$#@t out of most of them

Hi Ted

What fuel pump are you using, maybe its not supplying enough fuel? If you were running a sponge filter then Id expect it to need re-jetting but as you are running the airbox then thats less likely. However, it could possibly be that the combination of your exhaust and silencer are also allowing the engine to breathe better, so still causing it to run lean.
The output shaft leaking oil doesnt sound good. Its fairly cheap to replace the oil seal but Im pretty sure you'd need to split the block in order to do that, but check the service / Haynes manual tho as Im not certain.
