A Vicars opinion
adithorp - 7/2/08 at 11:13 PM

Had a customer in work yesterday who's a vicar. He had a look at my Fury and I showed him around, explained BEC's, etc.

Today he called back in again and said he'd talked to a collegue about my car and they'd come to the conclusion that BEC's are like foxholes...

In which case I'm stuffed!

Took a bit off finding but this was the closest reply i could find

quote:

“Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head”

Mathew 8: 18 - 20

That's not quite true as I can think of a couple of good ones quite easily

Dont trust a man of the cloth, look at the nonsense the archbishop of canterbury came out with yesterday.

They're all mad.

There’s nothing mad in dedicating your life to an invisible all powerful pure good super being who’s only concern is that you spend your whole life worshiping it, otherwise it will condemn you to an eternity of incredible torture in the hands of his evil nemesis.

Perfectly sane…

I'm about as religious as they come, and I'm in the midst of building a BEC.

Just use the Father Jack quote from Father Ted " That would be an equminical (sp?) matter"

A new army recruit was asked what religion he was to which he said "I'm an athiest, sarge". Sargent says "There ain't no athiest in fox holes, son"

In the hands of? Your theology is a bit lacking. Along side is perhaps more like it. Hell is for the “evil nemesis” to be tortured, not be the torturer.

What is a foxhole anyway?

Mr Whippy - 8/2/08 at 01:18 PM

for once I'm pleased at my lack of knowledge about a subject, this world has enough problems without having to worry about the next.

a foxhole is a dug out used by solders to hide and then shoot at the enemy, much more boring than running around dodging bullets
