my engine is a 893 blade lump.
I fitted the gear selector arm today and with the engine switched off I went through the gears (The child in me told me too).
Only problem is that I started in N, back to 1st, then 2, 3, 4 and then it stopped.
It should be a 6 speed box, why does it stop at 4? is this just because the engine isn't running or is it broken?
Thankyou.
Mark.
Its just because its not running!
I was hoping that would be the answer, Thanks..

Turn the sprocket flange slightly and clunk.. 5th.
I'd be careful not to try and change gear too much without the car moving. AFAIR it puts a lateral strain on the fingers and worry it'll bend them and make gear changes tricky when you are on the move...
I only did it a couple of times and didn't put any pressure on the lever, It felt pretty happy. I was just being childish as its the first time
I've changed the gear since I got the engine in December.
Thanks for the warning though.
I did that tonight too.
I've had the engine two years, so doing the old gearchange thing was one of those moments that brought a smile to my face.
