I seem to have a rather odd problem.
I went out for a bit of a run on sunday.
Car got up to temp max 85 had a good hard thrashed around on the way back i lost one cylinder after the other.
I let the car cool even tho it was not that hot.
It then started and went fine
Pretty sure its the coils getting hot. What i don't understand is the engine temp is fine?

Where are the coils mounted?

I'm guessing that the ZX9 only has 2 coils as per my ZZR. So if you lose 1 coil you'll lose spark on 1 and 4 or 2 and 3. Losing 1 cylinder at a time seems more like a fueling issue than spark?

My advice would be to get the car up to temp again and try the plug leads. I had to replace my set after the last trackday. From cold they were OK, but as the car got up to temp it started to missfire. Turned out the original bike leads are twisted copper wire and the replacement set I'd had made up were carbon / silicone type which I found started to breakdown and track onto the head.

The ZX9R has sepperate coils on each sparkplug....I think....

Are you running standard electronics?

ZX9 has individual coils on each plug.

Each pair (1+2 and 3+4) share live feeds (the red wires to the coils). Do you have a loose connection?

It could be that the coils are knackered and they are breaking down at temperature.

its a e type ecu
so your saying it could be the wires going to coil breaking down?
Did you manage to get new connectors or reuse the old ones?
Where can i purchase the wire type you mention.
I would be surprised if it was the coils themselves as i have changed them and the problem stays.
