I was wondering about the overall weight, performance and handling compared to a Locost Blade. Probably what I really like is that it is mid engined. What do you think?

I believe Jedi's weigh in at about 300kg (probably less) so with that in mind it'll be about 300 bhp/tonne (with a 100 bhp 600cc) so you will get roughly the same performance as a road going locost, better aerodynamics in the Jedi though but obviously it isn't road legal! As for the price of it I've seen Jedi's range from £5000 upto £14000 (hayabusa powered!)

As Oliver mentioned, a Jedi weighs in around 300kgs or so, so power to weight will be better than a blade locost, and having come across one on track a few times I can vouch that they go round corners quicker as well due to the slicks and wings!
They would be expensive to maintain compared to a Locost tho, and don't bet on being able to use it on track apart from in competition, its looking qute possible that most track day organisers will have to ban single seaters next year, due to the insurance companies massively increasing the liability premiums if single seaters are included.

You wouldn't want to stack it though would you - your feet can't be more than about 10cm from the end of the nose cone!

That is a "problem" with Jedi's, your feet arequite forward, about 10cm in front of the axle line IIRC. I believe they were designed before the MSA made a blanket rule that all new cars must position the drivers feet behind the axle line, but I think they get dispensation to run because there are a lot of them around running in a couple of popular series.

Having said that tho, I think they do have a proper crushable structure at the front, and several racers have stacked them them comprehensively and walked away.

Chris you are absolutely right about the MSA's position here. It's also the reason that the Jedi design has stayed more or less the same. The wouldn't get chassis approval from the MSA if they altered it because of the postion of the drivers feet.

As to performance, comparing it to a '7' is like compairing a WWII Spitfire to a F111.

I can quite believe those times, when I was at a trackday at Llandow last year, I was probably the quickest road car there, yet a 600cc Jedi was blitzing past me under power on the straight simply because he could carry about 20mph more out of the corners than I could, and was probably lapping about 5s quicker on a 45s lap.
