Checking ignition timing on an R1

Hi all

I'm still trying to get my R1 running properly and need to check the ignition timing. I have a different trigger wheel (36/1) but have copied the markings across from the original wheel.

I thought I'd set the positioning of the missing tooth (front edge of the next tooth after the missing one to 90 BTDC for ease of setup with the ECU. But, I need to check this - static is pretty easy but I can't work out how to check it dynamically. I've seen somewhere about using the small hole in the cover to align with the second mark on the wheel. Is this the point that should be at 5 degrees BTDC at 1150 rpm (the manufacturers spec.?

I'm getting frustrated now!

Wyn
