hello again. 2003 5pw r1 from the bottom coolant hose is a small 8 or 9 mm hose that goes to the throttle bodies... just before the tbs there is a T with a long hose on it... in the r1 service manual it looks like it goes to the top of the rad shall i do the same and put it onto the small connection at the top of my polo rad
This was useful for me when sorting mine out.
On my car the hose you are referring to is teed into a hose going between the top of the expansion bottle and the small outlet at the top of the rad.
I think that's right.

If this is the T between the outlet at the bottom next to the bottom hose and the throttle bodies then I just got rid of the T. The bypass from the
'stat housing then went to the header bottle with the T re-used to connect the rad bleed hose into it.
Mines an 06 though so might be different.

Think it goes back into the block or stat housing. Can't remember which without looking but its the original location. I'm not sure the
'06 is the same as earlier ones either.

Jubal, I've just had a look. One pipe goes to the hose from the bottom. The other goes into a branch off the top outlet from the 'head,
where the main hose comes out to the back (engine side) of the 'stat.

TVM, I'll leave mine as I've done it. Small outlet from rad, small pipe from stat and pipe from hose at bottom all heading to top of header bottle. If I've not overheated by then we can compare notes at Angesey!
