having trouble getting noise down
running stanard airbox and gone from straight though pipe to a baffled still bout 107
any one here got same set up with the stanard r1 can what do you get from that db wise
My 'Blade with std airbox and R1 can was 98 dB at SVA and Donnington if that helps.
I like the R1 can, and I* can't say it dents the performance noticably
107 dB? are you sure? Mine didn't read that high with a small straight through can and a sock filter. I tried an R1 can but it noticably
messed up the fueling, though it was a fair bit quieter.
I now have a huge silencer and an airbox with an intake silencer. It measured 96.7 dB at Cadwell Park last year.
well it jumps all over i held inline with the exhust at about .5m away
and also it back fires so load now since if has a baffled exhaust is this norm
if you are you looking at noise reduction for track, measurement is normally taken 0.5m at a 45degrees angle from outlet at 2/3 max revs, if you are measuring in line weth outlet you will get a much higher reading with pulses.
The advice Merlin gave me was the fatter the exhaust diameter the quieter.
I also repacked mine and it sounds a little quieter, the prev stuffing was too tightly packed effectively making the perforated pipe a solid pipe.
107 is high! If your meter isn't accurately calibrated then you can't count on it except for relative changes.
At castle combe, Merlin can take your card details and loan you a additional extra silencer which if doesn't work they refund you straight
away.
With my R1 quite a bit of the noise was from the car vibrating/resonating and from the large exit hole for the manifold.
And backfiring MAY be because the carbs are not balanced correctly.
