im getting my carbs back this week from ab performance hopefully he scured the problem

question is has anyone managed to re use a set of plugs that have been well flooded in petrol they look ok and only done two miles before it broke down.

didnt really want to spend another £35.00 on plugs

Put them in the oven on a low heat for a while, it will help and give them a clean with a small brush.
Try that before you bin them!

I suppose it's worth trying to "restore" them but in my experience like most things BEC the sparks are a little fragile and go all grumpy if you flood them.... Certainly when I did this whilst setting up my car I knackered a set of brand new plugs and had to swap them for the ones that originally came with the engine.... no amount of heat or time appeared enough to remove the fuel....

Unless the plugs are damaged in some other way I've always been able to recover them by cooking as Martin describes, just as a pointer I went 2 grades hotter on my plugs to stop fouling & despite hard use have never had any eroding/melting electrode problems.

Hi Simon
Just spotted your thread, a point on wirebrushing them - works fine on the standard NGK's but if you are using the iridiums dont put a wire brush anywhere near them - you will be virtually guaranteed a permanent misfire afterwards!
