Right I've had my fireblade crankcase in half, had the bracked on the bottom case welded and figured out what was causing sticky gearshift so I'm now ready to put it back together.

I've read through Haynes to get a list, and of course it says to replace absolutely everything even though it's often overkill. Just after experience from people who have put these back together and what they have/haven't replaced before I go to honda dealer with a biiiig list of bits.

List I think I need is as follows: -

Paper gaskets (I know I'll need all these): -
Oil sump
Alternator cover
Clutch cover
Signal generator cover

Other seals and o-rings
Oil strainer seal
Oil pressure valve o-ring
Oil cooler o-ring
Water pump o-ring
Countershaft oil seal

Crankcase Sealing Washers
20 quidsworth of washers including 10x9mm, 2x8mm, 3x6.5mm

Assuming the above are definately required, can I just get standard copper sealing washers from nut/bolt stockist or are they really "specialist"??? 20 quid seems a lot for washers...

Other bits
It's also recommended to use Hondabond to seal the crankcase halves, but is there a Hermetite or similar equivelant I can get from a motor factors that'll do the job as well and won't cost me Honda prices?

Re the washers, is annealing and reusing them too ghetto?

I've never re-built one completely myself either, but I know that the Honda stuff is really good but v expensive.

The Wurth stuff (Wurth RTV) is as good, but not cheap also. I think it's £60 for a small tube, but in theory it is worth it as you'll have it for a very long time and as above really good!

Hylomar is fine on bike crankcases!
I used it for years and never had any problems, just dont slap it on too thick as it could overflow into places you wouldnt want it to go.

You just need oil resistant instant gasket, the stuff they use to stick car sumps on not the water works gear.

Halfords flog this now, previously I have used wurth.
