Which engine?
Tommy Kaira - 19/7/08 at 12:21 PM

Hi guys,
I'm new here and looking at building a bike engined car. Blade's and R1's seem to be the popular donors but what about the others (fazers, GSXRs, Bandit, etc). Is it worth the extra cash for the slight (top end) power increase of an R1 over a Fazer/GSXR1000 over a Bandit?

Thanks,
TK

What about a Thunderace 1000cc engine. V cheap to buy the whole bike, completely bullet proof, less peaky that its R1 successor. All round good option

I agree belting motor. Has grunt to die for that would, be real useful.
V4 honda 800 would be good too, only modest bhp but a flat line of torque regardless of revs and smooth as guinness. Packaged real nice too, bulletproof and sounds amazing.

All these engine are options, but investigate properly from people who have used them if they suffer from oil surge issue when mounted differently in a 7 car (unless its a middy project? - still i;d check)

Also the more off the beaten track you go with the engine choice the higher the chances of having to pay to have a custom exhaust manufactered as the off the shelf ones are only for comen engines - a custom exhaust could easily wipe out any savings - add in a dry sump kit due to not doing your home work and you'd be better off with a busa for the money it would cost!

Thanks dangle.

Wise words! I hadn't thought about the custom exhaust, etc.
