
Hi Chaps,
Got my car Friday and I want to change two things to it.
1) smaller wheel
2) change my paddleshift so right is up, left is down.
It is cable operated, with the cable coming through onto the right hand side paddle.
Take it my two options are
1) Drill and relocate push pull cable to left paddle.
2) turn the lever on the gear selector upside down. not sure how easy this is on the R1 5PW engine though.
Just wanted to know what your guys thoughts are. The guy who built the car for me said the cable would be under too much strian being bent to the left
hand side.
Those cables can snap if fitted badly, Jubal's did.
It is very easy to turn the gear spigot through 180degrees on the R1.
Of course the bracket has to suit the new cable direction and it could also put strain on the cable I guess.

thats what I am thinking if the cable is then under too much strain. I thought it was the bracket that snapped on Jubals, not the cable.
Think a lower bracket will have to be fitted at the engine side so it alligns with the gear spigot.
you can buy a longer cable thats what i had to do as one fitted was wrong.

sorry TJ what did you do to yours exactly?
I take it yours was set up the same way to begine with.
What did you do to overcome it?
The bracket failed AND then the Cable failed.
On Terry's he had to buy a second cable that was the right length, but made no modifications.

as worx said but no mine was all ready up gear on the right down with the left.

so far, touch wood the car has been fine. No issues at all.
I really want to get this paddleshift sorted but not knowing the forst thing about welding i dont think it will be easy at all. also i have the
steering column in the way.
TJ, do you have a pic of how yours is set up at all? any help would be great guys.
eveytime i play forza on xbox with the wheel i keep going wrong now - hope i dont change gear and drop a cog at 14k rpm
