In order to laser cut it, the company will have to transfer your shape to a CAD profile... This may cost more in labour than the cutting the part. Is there no way you can draw up the profile yourself?

Secondly - does it have to be laser cut. You can produce a very respectable finish by hand.

i've been told of a company in Coventry that if you're in no rush will do laser cut parts (from dfx file) quite cheaply, i think the min cost was 25 pounds. They basically add you to existing 'contract' jobs hence why it may take a while for them to load some steel the thickness you need.

Don't know the name but if you're interested u2u me and i'll find the lad in the office again and ask him.

theyll need to draw it on the computer , or youll need an optical reader .

youll certainly get a decent finish with a plasma .

or you could contact andy in scotland wholl water jet it for you .

http://www.laser-eng.com/

have always done the job for me but they do need a DXF file (£30 minimum IIRC).
It's not that difficult though and there are free CAD programs out there....
I used stdCAD and Emachineshop....
Does the job for me and it's freeware not torrent ripping....
