I was surprised when my car was weighed at SVA on their weigh bridge at 550kg.
I tried to keep weight down on the build as much as I could. The spec is:
2007 MK indy chassis.
R1 engine and radiator.
Sierra front uprights/Wilwood calipers/single drilled grooved brakes.
15 inch Pro race 1 wheels.
Fibreglass seats.
30 litre alluminium fuel tank.
2.5mm Plastic transmission covers.
Sierra diff 7 inch.
Push in shafts/8 inch rear drums.
Normal lights & bodywork etc.
Alluminium floor.
Single roll bar.
Looking at previous threads, most people are sub 500kg, why is my car so heavy?

perhaps you should of got out first (joke)
my book built car was only 484 kgs and thats with a xflow in it
plus with a 25ltr fuel tank you wont be going for any long drives then !!
Goes to show you.
I was helping a friend out the other night.
He's currently building his own Sports 2000, so full bodywork is fitted.
The car is on 13" CXRs and is powered by a mid mounted Pinto.
500kg dry. Add not a lot more for some fuel and water.
Just shows what can be saved by a proper racing car chassis.
Oone of the SVA testers I met, he commented that he thought the SVA weight bridge was not that accurate.
If it concerns you, I'd get it weighed on some more accurate scales. It would be interested to find out the varience. I know mine came out more
than expected at my SVA.
Cheers
Ian
Maybe MK filled your chassis rails with lead

Mine was 520kg with a xflow and full cage.
me thinks you BEC boys may have been conning me on this weight saving.... lol
Mates MK with zx9 and approx 40ltr tank weighed in at Gillingham for sva with full tank at 570kg

I think it was the fat git you had sitting in your car on the way home.
There is a weigh bridge at crimplesham.
Don't take too much notice of the SVA weights.
Mine seem way over weight, even made the tester chuckle.
Don't worry - it's perfectly OK!
There are a lot of folk who claim featherweight 7 type's who just make up the numbers!
You know who you are!
regardless of weight, is it quite quick?
If it's as quick as it sounds from the spec, I don't think I'd be too worried lol...

Crikey Steve... lighten up man... just having a laugh at some of the frankly ridiculous numbers given by some on here.
