Hi, having seen Kriss's MK the other day i saw the unit and pipes under the exhaust manifold has been removed which i think is the AI system - is
that right?
His was removed so should i remove mine or will it bring fault codes up on the original clocks?
Thanks
Adam
I'm sure someone will give you a proper answer soon, but I'm pretty sure that the EXUP valve effects the clocks. You can, as I understand it, either leave it 'operating' but up underneath the scuttle or similar or fit some kind of widget (home made or bought) that pretends that it's operating. Sorry I don't know too much - aftermarket clocks so no issues.
The unit you are pointing too is the AIS (air injection system) that is used to help clean up emissions on the bike by injecting some air into the
exhaust to help burn unused fuel in the exhaust.
Removing it will not affect the running of the bike and will not bring up any fault codes. It will also not affect the ability to pass SVA. Its just
extra weight you can get rid of.
All you have to do is remove unit and piping and seal the pipes that enter the head of the engine so that no air enters the exhaust port.
Cheers
