Hey guys, Sorry to be the forum pain...

I've been trying to position the engine tonight but how the hell does it fit in?

Does it sit parallel with the n/s top chassis tube?dos it sit with the sump level or the engine (head) level?

HELP PLEASE!!!!

Marc

im no expert, but i believe the sump has to be level,
if you think how its sat in the bike it slants forward, so when the engine is "level" it is how it would be in the bike and therefore the sump will be parallel to the floor

Mines in a caterham and the head is roughly parallel with the top tube and the sump is flat with the ground.

A 4 degree offset of the engine to prop is the most that is considered ok.

check out my archive.

As installed in mine the sump is level and the head faces exhaust side towards the near side top chassis rail. The engine head is not parallel with the axis of the car but is parallel with the top chassis rail. This turns the output shaft a little more towards the centre axis of the car but it still remains offset by a few inches towards the offside of the car. The centre bearing and UJ of the propshaft allows the propshaft to angle towards the off side side of the tunnel and mate with the output flange (mmmmmm.....).
