Hi, Im looking to fit an oil pressure sensor to my R1(02-03), looking for some advice really on what other owners have used. Have you mounted the sender in the oil cooler bolt or remotely with a capiliary tube. Has anyone got a list of recommended parts youve bought recently so i dont get the wrong bits. I'd rather fit an m10 than an imperial one as i dont have imperial in my tap set. Also can any gauges be fitted to any sender?

I have had three R1 engines in two cars and have always found the feed from the oil cooler bolt very reliable.

5 bar is 75psi and too low. On full chat it will be 85psi.

The link below is my first R1 install in my old Phoenix and gives a pretty good overview of the parts required. It's a carbed motor but the method is much the same.

I would advise a steel male 1/8 npt take off as an ali one will eventually fracture due to vibration.

I mounted an electric sender by screwing it direct into the oil cooler bolt - it's still there after a year & three quarters. It was an intermotor part (can't remember the number, but I think it's on my website somewhere) & I think it was M8 fine thread

I put my capillary guage pipe into the oil gallery plug where Yamaha take presure readings from. There's one on each end of the block and you can buy adapter plugs that fit. Sorry can't remember the thread size.

Bob have you got the details still for the supplier of your sender as it looks the cheapest option, i have m10 taps and less hole making plus i havent got a clue or the tools for imperial not sure what all that 1/8 npt is to drill correctly.

Just had a quick look on europa spares and amazed that a 1/8npt 10 bar sender is £24 cheaper than an M10 10 bar sender whats that about
