Hi all,
New 2007 ZZR in my MNR Vortx - when I try to pull away gently 9 times out of 10 the car will begin to kangeroo and the only way to stop it is to sink
the clutch, giving it more gass makes in jump even more......
I then have to rev the car quite hard and pull away quickly to get past this ackward start...
any suggestions as to what this might be..? my Fireblade didnt do it... 
I have had the car mapped on a rolling road, but hadnt driven it previously? Could it be the map?

Sounds like a BEC thing to me 
(PS - tongue firmly in cheek and I'm sure the BEC boys will come to you're aid)
Sure you could cure it with a zetec...
or a V8!

Always difficult to diagnose remotely but could it be warped steel clutch plates, this will definately cause this kind of symptom.

P.S the CEC guys are right car engines do solve alot of issues - I used one on my boat prior to that the tides just pulled the anchor out!!

(I can easily do a swap with you for my ZX12r which works fine...!)
Might be worth trying another map its an easy thing to do - even a strandard one- or try Angus ?

I've got a couple of PowerCommander maps for a 2007 ZX14R (ZZR1400) from Angus's Radical.
Not something daft like a flatshifter gearchange cutting in or the tilt switch activating under acceleration?
Mr Thoirs - you might as well get your dig in now as next year you wont even get close...
My diff is a Freelander with a Quaife ATB installed. The engine has done less than 100 miles and was mapped at Daytuner after the SVA was completed,
so I havent driven the car without the new map. Would one of these GI-Pro's help as they supposedly get rid of lower gear hesitation etc ? need
to research it some more....
A pal suggested a stronger spring on the throttle, perhaps it is just me but when I try to pull away nicely its like the diff/prop/reversebox/gearbox
go into a rocking motion and end up fighting.. it just doesnt stop until I drop the clutch and pull away with more revs.
As for AB's suggestion, the engine and clutch are brand new... could it be warped?
with more gas it pulls away fine, but then it feels like I am driving the car badly... my old blade needed a fair bit of revs to get enough torque,
this new engine pulls much lower down... maybe just need to give it more gas...?
First track day this weekend so will give it some abuse and see what happens...
Definitely doesn't sound right. I reckon our ZX12R would pull in 1st gear on tickover. Your brakes aren't binding are they?

dont believe the brakes are binding.. will do some tests on Wednesday to see what it does on tick over... it might be on applying a little gas.....
it is a strange one.... fine once I get it going.....
Backlash problems in reverse box or diff, tolerances in order?
Is everything bolted allright?
Just suggestions.
diff and reverse box has been checked.... I do get a whine off of the transmission with the reverse box on lift off, but I believe they all do
this...
will check it out and update this thread....

after many discussions and testing I believe one of the steels is warped and discolored... now to order new steels
Will post when I get round to stripping it down and fitting the new plates.

I thought you said the engine and clutch were brand new? Just trying to understand why the steels would be warped........

Hi Phil,
On checking with people previously involved with the car, there has been clutch problems previously with the clutch slipping and uprated springs
installed....
On inspection of the first steel it is blue with heat and probably warped and the basket nut was completely over torqued so will look at new steels
over the winter just to get it back to a "known" condition...
frustrating as the car is "new".... but oh well.... lets hope theres not more damage to the internals in the longer term....

when raising the suspension last night we found out the the passenger side rear bearing has collapsed... still need to source a 42mm socket to check
it out properly, but this might also be part of the problem and may also explain the really noisy transmission on lift off....

There ain't much that bloke doesn't know about BECs
I was adjusting the fueling the other day and I could get the thing to kangaroo about 8 out of ten pull aways and sometimes even on the change to 2nd.
The strange thing was is that it done this when the fueling was perfect (13.3 ish) When I richened it off a bit it will still do it but it's
stoppable with carefull use of the clutch and revs.

it may also be related to my one of my other issues - that the ecu is running in safe mode.... who knows what it is doing to the ignition advance.....
will update you all after the weekend.

after a good run at Knockhill today the stuttering seems to have disappeared... may also be related to the loose rear hub nut on the passenger
side...
thanks for all the suggestions.. morale of the story... double check the torque on every single nut and bolt related to the tranmission....
