I used a crow bar. It pops straight off with very little effort. It's just about impossible to get at the retaining springs/clips and remove it
properly.
You'll be replacing it anyway. Just watch your your eyes as the spring clips can zip about in the air when they go.
you'd be better posting this in the engine transmission. this section is for bike engined cars so I doubt if they know much about anchors on

I would agree with Richie. The haynes manual recommends unclipping the metal spring clips which is easy in the 'Heynes world' but
impossible in the real world. I used a claw hammer and it was off in seconds!
