A few questions about racing
ace - 17/11/07 at 03:10 PM

Hello there,

Been thinking about doing this for a while and have a few questions.

What sort of age group are the competitors?

How expensive is it to do the series to run around mid field for starters?

Been racing karts for a long time now and they are hard work, in fact it's almost impossible to keep up with the younger drivers.

How much is the ards test these days at Mallory?

Thanks

Dave

it's easy to get started in first thing you need to do is get the go racing pack from places like the MSA or demon tweeks, once you have got this then you can do your ards test (been documented on here lately) onceyou have you licence buy a car (i know of one for sale at a bargain price) the people who race in Locost range from 17 the youngest to 65 the oldest and possibly older not sure how old Brian Mitcham is now!! The series is great fun and would recomend any one entering it.

hope this helps a little

Hi GazzaP has covered most of it.

So come on then tell us your age ( assuming you had some concernes about it ) But there is no need to have any concernes as theres more than one whos knocking on the 60ish age. ( wont mention names ) . But it dose show you are never to old to have some fun. And locost racing is certinaly a fun championship to be in.

Is mallory local to you as if you fancy looking at some cars i ussually have one or two of the locost racers in the workshop and am 40 mins from mallory. Also if you are looking for any onboard fottage off the racing theres quite a few on here in the racing section lowwer down the forum ( cant think of the title) or there 3 or 4 on our web site. Just click the WWW button on the bace of this post.

As GazzaP hope this helps and keep any question rolling in as they will all be answered by one off the 5-6 drivers on here from the locost championship.

Also theres a bit of info on costs ect here LINK

Cheers matt

Dec Mc has become 10 years younger since he started racing in the series.

He is now 30 according to Motoring News, 9 years younger than he was when he started in the series.

I'm now 25 and Brian has had to hand back his bus pass!
