SVA Passed!

5 minute inspection to check my new ludicrous C90 mirrors (with the offside one on a 20cm extension for good measure) and I got my certificate.

Very pleased!!!! Celebratory champagne, salmon and asparagus being prepared by Poppy as I type.

All the documents are ready to be sent special delivery to DVLA in Portsmouth tomorrow morning, just dreading having to rent a trailer AGAIN to go down there for inspection.

Well done dude.
DVLA came to me for their inspection (From Bournemouth) Try and see if they will come to you from Portsmouth and save the trailer hire again.

That's what I'm really hoping for - or get local police to inspect it - they don't exactly have much else to do round here!

Otherwise its another £40 for the trailer, an 80 mile round trip, and another 2 hours of mending fences to pay back the mother-in-law for letting me borrow her truck...

well done!

Just been through the same process with portsmouth DVLA, they were all very helpful but unfortunately they say home inspections are at managers discretion and in reality unlikely unless you have a serious issue making it to the test centre (like being disabled)

Tests are done on a wednesday morning at the botley VOSA test centre for trailered vehicles (they won't do an inspection on a trailered vehicle at portsmouth centre itself due to space)

I used a local guy who runs a business using an ex-rac van, he towed my car on a dolly from portsmouth for about 60 quid, which was only 15 quid more than the cost of trailer hire. Give me a shout if you want his number.

Cheers,
Dan

Botley???? FFS!!!! That's as bad as having to go back to Soton. I wonder if they would do it at Guildford VOSA?

The whole split between DVLA and VOSA mystified me - why they can't be a single unified agency of the DOT is just crazy.

I think they do it at botley just for space, it's actually a guy from the dvla Portsmouth office that goes up to do it rather than a vosa person.

Still seems a bit of a daft system tho!
