Hi, I have a 2.0 Pinto Engine with a X/Flow Gearbox, i am after a starter motor to fit, the stater i need is a 3 bolt fixing, sits on the passenger side of the car.
Or does anyone know any part numbers that may help me, i got 2 so far from my local spare shop which i have had to return as both that were listed for a 1977 mk2 escort ended up with the starter solinoid upside down.

Upside down is fine as long as it fits.

Are you using the Pinto flywheel or the crossflow flywheel ?

Hi, using a X/flow flywheel, thought about using one upside down but the car will be a bit low to the road.

You need to know is the flywheel is for an inertia starter or a pre-engage starter or is is the universal type that works with either. The difference lies in which side off the ring gear has a chamfered lead in for the starters drive gear.

2 litre Pintos all used a a pre-engage starter, early 1600 Pintos used an inertia starter and most but not all xflos used an inertia starter.
