Item no 321890825193 on flea bay, worth it? Looks like a koso copy to me, cheap but what about iva?

Does anyone use one of these?

Is it waterproof? Is it shock & vibration proof? Is it accurate? Will it work with all engines? Where is your sales & service backup if/when it goes wrong? I strongly suspect it would be a waste of money - buy an Acewell!

Being a cheapskate! I went though various options myself...

I've got one of these in my Striker
http://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/new-daytona-asura-multifunction-gauge-black-701-p.asp

All connected up, but not fully tested yet as I'm giving my car a refresh

Seems to do everything thing I need, Speedo, Rev Counter (nice feature is that you specify the top revs and the bar graph is scaled to it) Fuel and water gauges. There are warning indicators too, but these are on the LCD rather than actual lights

It's compact, easy to use and a great price

Can't say if it IVA compliant, not an issue for me as my car's already registered

That Asura dash, comes out £15 cheaper than the Acewell 1600

Linky

that's with the LCB discount, it has the same functions with the exception of the warning lights (those warning lights would not be any use for IVA anyway) with one, you have me at the end of the phone to give help & advice, a full guarantee & spares available usually for years after the purchase should you damage anything & you can add a remote to it should you want to - with the other ummmm ..........you don't & can't!

Obviously I'm biased, but I know which I'd rather be buying!

I would also point out that I've been dealing with Acewell for around 7 years now & their failure rate is tiny, of all the units I've sold I would say less than 0.1% have had any faults which would be an incredible fail rate even if they were twice the price they are!

The one at the start of this thread is ridiculously cheap I will admit, but I dread to imagine what the quality is like!

Russ that Acewell is a great deal with the LCB discount, I wasn't on LCB at the time I bought it, I may have made a different choice!

I'm still happy with my choice, I suspected that the indicators may not be IVA compliant - though they are clear and will be fine for me. I'm confident with the supplier too being well established and UK based

Does anyone do a neat standalone tell tall unit with all of the legally required and commonly used indicators?

The only ones we do are specifically made for the Ace 3xxx series, they're not particularly cheap at just over £50 (less discount, tho' it's only 5% on those), I guess you could take the lights out of the surround & mount them separately, but would be an expensive way of doing it.

The only other one I can think of is the Bright 6 (think I have the name right?) but IIRC I don't think it does all the IVA required lights? I think CBS do it amongst others

Russ if someone had managed to break one of the light in a 3xxx surround, can it be replaced or is it time for a new surround?

russbost - 20/10/15 at 07:50 AM

I believe we can get the "4 light" sections that screw into the back of the surround as a separate part, if you let me know what 4 lights you have on the side that has the broken one & preferably send a pic as there have been 2 different types over the years then I can check & get a price for you
