How about an inboard brake setup?

Hi.

Now that the front hub / brake assembly (Rorty) are getting finished, how about building the brakets to hold a bike front stoping setup near to the diff?

Maybe a couple of brackets to suit different calipers R1 / R6 / Blade / etc...

Also there would exist the need of a cable operated thinggie to be SVA compliant...
coud be in a form of a spigot in the braket getting into one of the rotor's slots, hold by a spring...

That could save a few kilos from the wheels side...

Any thoughts? Any takers?

Would be nice I suppose. Less un sprung weight. Without the disc, there would be less offset on the wheel and so it might touch the coil springs. Nothing is impossible though.

Been there, done it, and chucked it all in the bin, waste of time, certainly with an old sierra diff, although i'm not saying it couldn't be a goer with a newer diff, freelander perhaps.
Main problem was grease from the lobros contaminating the discs/pads. Also lateral movement of the output shafts, mainly LSD side, caused pads to rub on discs when cornering. I tried using floating calipers to sort the rubbing, but the scraping sound coming from the back end when cornering drove me nuts, so in the end i scrapped the lot.
To be honest i don't think the saving in unsprung weight is worth the effort.

Nothing wrong with that!!

I'm racing with this one and the only disadvantage is that the rear compartment is getting dirty......

The lateral movement of the output shaft mean that there is too much play on it
I also had a problem with grease leaking from the tripod but when I used small hose clamp on the sleevs the problem was gone.
To hot? that is why they invented air ducts
