£6+vat for one seems a little like daylight robbery

I've been looking for some oval hoops to cut in half and put a thread on with no luck so far..... locost builders always have the answer!

Can you find a new (BMW) mini... the centre switch panel has those on it...

I used an IKEA draw handle to guard my switches.

Or, a small U-bolt would do for a single switch.

Might be possible to chop these down then thread the end for a nut or similar?

Just bend a bit of straight bar around a former of your choice. Ally bar would be easy to cut threads on!

I've been looking for some cheaper ones for ages. CBS must get them from somewhere.

I've thought about using those mini ones, can you take the guards off and mount them to a flat panel?

stevegough - 20/11/10 at 09:11 PM

You could try these from CBS?

franky - 20/11/10 at 09:32 PM

Cheers people, I think these are the best to go for

6mm x 90mm U BOLT & PLATE STAINLESS STEEL 316 on eBay (end time 25-Nov-10 15:22:33 GMT)

They have an edge to go against the panel too with a smaller pitch thread. So 1/3 of the price of the highway robbers

Davegtst - 20/11/10 at 09:35 PM

Good find. Be sure to let us know what they are like when you get them, i'll probably get some too.

Agreed 6 quid is pretty expensive there must be something better. However, a couple of points.....for those suggesting threading a pre bent 'U', how can you do that?...think about it.. and secondly the CBS ones do have a small flange forged into them allowing you to tighten them up without having a nut both sides....which is more visually appealing than the nut showing.....

Just my thoughts.

Come on Alan - surely die nuts exist that side of the 'pond'

The ebay ones seemed to work well. £1.70 against £6+vat!!! Not a 100% finished job but i'm pleased with how its turned out.

Missile silos?

franky - 26/11/10 at 06:02 PM

Hidden rocket launchers

Fuel pump/Fan over-ride/Dash power/traction-launch control

I just like toggle switches, well switches full stop!
