Hippo vs cheetah
MikeR - 8/6/06 at 07:17 PM

To stop a thread on a little bec's gearbox not working (come on, its a bec, its supposed to break!)

I thought i'd move the hippo vs cheetah discussion here.

So then.... off you go lads, was left at .....

have heard that hippos kill more people a year than any other animal! apparently they are known to capsize river boats, and cause mayhem

Hippos are extremely dangerous – Especially the big ones with V8 engines

if the cheetah bites the hippo i think he can go walking and will win

off you go lads and lasses.....

Fozzie - 8/6/06 at 07:24 PM

Not if the hippo sits on the cheetah

As it happens I've just become an animal expert (via google) and you're wrong.

The worlds dealiest animal is the mosquito. It carries and transfers malaria causing parasites. These little buggers are responsible for over 2 million deaths a year.

From the above we can conclude that BEC's are better than CEC's

Marcus - 8/6/06 at 08:05 PM

Err no!
Cheetas kill more antelope than hippos - ergo CECs are better

Oh yes, so true!

ned - 8/6/06 at 08:11 PM

i saw a dead hornet the other day and they are very big - doesn't that count for anything?

and what happens if the mosquito stings the hypapotumus or the cheetah?

Ned.

zenarcher - 8/6/06 at 08:36 PM

I think people kill more people every year than any other animal, but seriously I would back the hippo in a fight with a cheetah.

Who said anything about being serious

According to a Steve Wright factoid this afternoon, a hippo can bite a croc clean in half.

That impressed me!

The hippopotamus hide is far too thick for a mossie to get through, so, nowt!
Therefore, cec wins

Marcus - 8/6/06 at 09:25 PM

Ok,

Hippo = CEC
Cheetah = BEC

SPLAT!!
Cheetah got sat on, CEC wins.

DIY Si - 8/6/06 at 09:33 PM

If the cheetah fell in the river, it's dead. However, out on the open plains the cheetah will just up sticks and run away. Either way, wimping out, or getting eaten.

i think us hippo peeps should take the high ground and keep quiet.

obviously bike engines aren't so good, or the owners of them wouldn't have to spend all their time shouting about how good they are.

if they were that good, we'd all know!

tks - 9/6/06 at 07:10 AM

is more moveable sow would easyly play with the hippo

wich will result in the hippofalling to ground it will be tired, also if the cheetah bites the hippo in his ass it will poor red stuff like hell..

sow the cheetah would never be caught by it

i think that if the cheaath jumps on the back of the hippo it would have plenty time to bite it where it would like it to do..

remember its a cat.. sow that gives us BEC 7 lives

Tks

The Cheetah is a handy tool,i used one this morning to start my hippo !!!!!

OX - 9/6/06 at 08:17 AM

im a cheetah and have made a few hippo friends ,we both know our strengths and downfalls and have no need to brag about them.we often rome around together as a pack and if i want to go for a quick sprint i just fold my ears back and go,but the hippos soon catch back up and then they start to laugh becouse they know that im getting low on energy and theres no watering hole around for miles

Fozzie - 9/6/06 at 08:24 AM

Very nicely put Ox !

But you do - that's the point!

richijenkin - 9/6/06 at 10:48 AM

lol. nice one OX

Marcus - 9/6/06 at 11:10 AM

I'm a dyed in the wool hippo, who would, one day, like to have the attributes of a cheetah - light weight, high pitched purr, masses of traction etc. But will console myself with being faster than most elephants out there!

Fozzie - 9/6/06 at 11:16 AM

A deffo hippo here, and proud of it......

Ox's post reminds me of the old fable of 'the tortoise and the hare'....... and we know who the winner was!

Fozzie

ned - 9/6/06 at 11:50 AM

can me and chris mason be hippo's on steroids then?

Hellfire - 9/6/06 at 11:51 AM

If a Cheetah were able to mate with a Hippopotamus you'd have the best of both worlds

A Cheepotamus

Edit: OK, this is getting far too silly now....

Hippo's can move a lot quicker than most people think.
Cheetahs commonly injure themselves, but are very very quick in short bursts.

Amazingly good analogy in so many ways

Or the worst of both worlds!

ie an animal that injures easily and can't sprint!

EDIT: if ur car had forced induction i reckon u can say ur a hippo on steriods!
