unlocking an I-phone
Mr Whippy - 18/3/08 at 04:41 PM

bit of a debate at work is it possible to unlock a uk i-phone? and how much does it cost?

Yes it can be unlocked, mine was done for £30.

You'd be better off buying one in France, they're already unlocked due to the French anti competition laws. I knew the French would be good for something one day.

Yes you can, much easier if it is unregistered though.
Try googling ziphone.

Difficult to buy unregistered ones now. They insist on credit/debit cards for payment so you can't do the cash purchase 'It's for a mate so he'll register it.. honest' ploy'.

May I also caution about buying an iPhone. They are bringing out a new one in the next four months. Also, You could build a car for the same money ;-)

Depending on the model you can do it yourself if you are prepared to jailbreak it. I did my old 3g.

It doesn't cost anything.

How strange! I never looked at the date, just replied to it as it was in the 'topics with recent activity' section.

HaHa
I read this down to the bit where clockwok mentions a new one out in 4 months and thought "surely not? tahnk goodnedss i did not upgrad just"
then looked at the date

This looks like a rejuvenated thread by a new poster to get people to go to his unlocking site?

Your provider should do it for you, I've had 2 iPhones unlocked by 02. The current 4S and the previous 3GS which was the previous handset on the current contract. Quick and free. Partner's 4S unlocked just the same way.

I think it was bumped by a spammer whose post was then delete by admin, leaving yours.

You could build 2 cars for the price of a new sim-free iPhone if Mr Champion is to be believed
