Pinto 205 engine code or part num?
Rik178m@hotmail.com - 28/7/09 at 09:34 PM

Hi all, I have a pinto 205 engine which I am doing a few bits on. As I dont have the car it came in so no reg number, does anyone know the code for the engine? Im after a rocker cover gasket and eurocarparts couldn't get it right. Told them all the numbers i could see on the block.
Thanks Rich

right side of the engine between the engine mount and the alternator mount will be the engine number.

take the first two letters and compare it with the year table in the burton catalog, this will give you the year of manufacture and hence what gasket you will need.

burtons only list 2 types, pre and post 84'

both less than £3 on there own:

euro parts will use the engine codes that you'll find in the haynes manual (I think)

my 205 is an NRA (from a efi granada) but it could also be an NRB or N4A (efi sierra)
I guess any of those codes should give you the same part

Great thanks I'll try tomorrow. They were on about a 9 in the code???

pre 84 is the narrow gasket

post 84 is the wider gasket

all you need is the engine year

you need the wider gasket

Rik178m@hotmail.com - 30/7/09 at 08:09 PM

Yeh I think i have the wider gasket. Never done one before so thought it'd fit straight on but its alot wider at 1 end. Do i have to cut it to fit?
