RMK - 25/8/04 at 05:12 PM

has anyone had any problems fitting an high lift cam to a pinto head.fitted two cams and one lobe has been warn away within 350 miles. any suggestions

loads of cam lube, accurate follower settings, and run it above 2-2.5k revs for a while on 1st start up,

pinto cam set up is crude and agricultural to say the least...........

its a while since i fitted one, some one will prob give you better up to date details.

As Jon says..

and are you saying that the same lobe went on two cams? if so I would have a very close look at the spray bar and the hole for the oil for that lobe.

Did you change the followers at the same time?? adjust valve clearances correctly??change the spray bar?. if it was the same lobe worn on both cams it may be worth checking the valve to piston clearance? may be possible to check through plug hole with a piece of solder pushed under valve. hope this helps, Rusty

Valves won't hit pistons on a Pinto.

Are springs coil binding? Quickest way to wear a cam out if they are!
