cable or hydraulic clutch?
jimbona2 - 6/3/08 at 11:43 AM

any opinions on cable or hydraulic clutches?
whats the difference, is hydraulic better? more expensive?

many thanks,

Personally I always go with hydraulics.
I know the initial cost is more, but if you have a problem the parts are easily available for a quick repair.
Custom made cables take time to get made up therefore you might be off the road longer if the original breaks.
It might make the difference between a roadside repair or being towed.

Anyone actually converted a gearbox from cable to hydraulic? MT75 / Type9, I know there was a hydraulic MT75 version, but that was a radial slave.
Cheers.
Pete.

Im going hydraulic

IMHO hydraulic gives a far better feel than cable and retain this fell where a cable will inevitablty deteriate (sp?) over time.

The other thing to consider is that routing a hydralic line is much easier than routing a cable in a cramped engine bay.

Pullrod for me! Simple. Effective. Reliable. Smooth. Cheap!

Picture here This is an old photo and the mechanism was 'tidied up' !
