Hi, a quick question about the 1300 crossflow engine. My son intends to biuld a Locost to race in the series next year.
My question is what is the difference between a normal 1.3 crossflow and the 1.3GT?
He is having problems finding a GT engine.
Can he have a normal engine rebuilt as a GT?
Also what is the best drive chain combination to race with?
I don't want him to start off on the wrong foot.
I'm trying to advise him (he is to young to remember a MK1/2 escort) but it is a bit like the blind leading the blind.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Rick
As far as I remember (and I was only built when the last mk2 Ezzy came off the line), It's the gearbox, with closer ratios (sport box?), and a bigger
valved head (and a corresponding cam).
I think that's about it really.
Someone please put me straight on the matter if I am wrong though.
Acording to my book of words the only difference apart from manifolds ,carb is the cam, valves the same size, gear and axle ratios also different
The Escort Ghia has the same engine, as does the Mk1 Fiesta.
all my readings i.e. classic ford since it started coming out says that the gt engines had bvh and better cam and diff carb over the standerd
