zx9r to westfield

Hi just wondering what mods to sump would be required if any to fit a zx9r engine in a westfield se pre lit
cheers

ps not got an engine yet just finding out any info

you would want to cut the sump i believe. You would have a lot of sump out the bottom unless you had an abnormally tall bonnet. A baffle plate is a good idea but doesnt seem to be essential.

If it is pre lit it is probably live (escort) axle. The best ratio will be 3:58 and a bit short for a ZX9 you really could do with 3.1 ish. Also make sure the ZX9 is a "C" (scrub C meant to say E) model or later as the earlier ones had rather fragile boxes.

As said the sump will need chopping to get rid of the udders.

For similar money you could get a Fazer 1000 motor no sump chop and better gearbox (ratio and strength).

the c model still had the weaker gearbox, it was the 99/2000 E that introduced the extra bearings.

hadnt thought about fazer to be honest ive always had kawasaki's as bikes , currently have a "c" zx9 (too good to break for parts) so am a bit biased, which year fazer best for car transplant?

2004 fazer good fit for this chassis
