All internal radii passed other then one small area in the passenger footwell. Easily rectified. Stuff that I though would be sticky, ie Passenger harness draped over the cross bar, Busa clocks, SPA clocks and switches wernt even mentioned. He seemed to take note of the SVA bars and didnt check for radii below these bars, only above. Had a few small fails here but again nothing to worry about. The front indicators fitted to the SVA bars are 25mm to low. Easily rectified but Dax have got their measurements wrong somewhere!

Failed on Emmisions and noise, both are a bit of a worry as is the fact that it failed on lack of rear visibility with the mirrors Ive fitted. This in the main is due to the cross bar and the SIP bars. Got a few ideas of how to sort this. Wouldnt let me bugger about with fuel pressure or map to try and get through emmisions.

Passed all the brakes, self centering etc then failed the rear calipers as another tester pointed out the make and the fact there was history. Bummer! Ive got a pair of standard Sierra rear calipers that Ill bung on to pass.

He allowed me to set the headlight aim and calibrate the speedo.

Failed the radius of the lower mounting point of the SIP, the one and only bolt! Didnt think they tested for radii on the side of the car? He didnt check for a fuel pipe restrictor, didnt ask to see proof that all the oil and fuel lines were compliant.

Overall not to bad I guess. There is no doubt the guy was/is a nob and had a complete sense of humor bypass. The only thing he said all day that made me feel pretty good was that the car was one of the best examples he'd seen.

Hopefully Ill get the to do list tomorrow and get on it for a retest within the next month.

So then guys, pointers and ideas as to how to reduce noise. Reading was quite a bit over at 103.5db

Hi

Sorry to hear you didnt pass,

what exhaust are you running to get 103 that cant be the dax exhaust surely there normally quite good around 100 db,

any pics as cant dee from the ones posted,

sounds like where unlucky on somethings as has no issues with of the things you pointed out,

yes the front indicators are to low before the day i raised the ride height as headlights where to low also,

still things that are fixable im sure suprised about the mirrors though???

good luck

Exhaust is a second hand item bought for those MOT and SVA occasions. 'Proper' can is made by Simpson and is probably quieter but has no CAT.

Headlight height was fine, he was more then happy!

Mirrors were marginal and to be honest I was a little pi$$ed that he didnt let them through. Angle of visibility is good but to the letter of the law they are a fail. Laugh is that I have far more blind spots on my Transit!

Im more concerened about the noise then anything else. Not sure if its engine noise or resonance thats the problem. Maybe its both.

is the can re - packable item,

any pics of it etc,

option you could do if it has a perferated tube is take this out bolt a db killer in half way up the pipe and replace the tube in exhaust, that way he can still get his probe far enogh up the exhaust to get emmissions readings on the lamba etc,

pics would help if you have any,

also have a db killer you can borrow if that helps

took around 4db of my readings so worked

cheers

It was repackable, but as it was leaking we welded it Have thought about cutting it back open and making it longer. Havent got any pics to hand, Ill try and ppost some tomorrow.

Simpson set up is this:-

But as I say, no cat. If it had passed emmisions today then I'd have bolted this one back on as its definatly quieter.
