What a Kn*bhead! MotaLeira Alive!

Following on from my thread, the Motaleira is running! Horah!
The reason it didn't is my fault!
I can't believe what I did, even now. In taking of the fuel pump hose from the fuel rail I heard a pop. So I checked the fuel was pumping and it was.
Then I realised what I had done, I had connected the fuel line and the return on the wrong end of the rail!
I was also suffering a fuel leak from the tank (so I thought). Funny how it came and went with the times I tried to start the engine! It must have been pressurising and squirting out of the hose.

What a noise it makes!
I'll try and do a vid tomorrow as the sound comes out bad on on my boy's phone. Any places to upload to?

It smoked a bit from the exhaust header paint, the oil pressure was 70-80 LB and the water temp goes up to about 105 before the fan cuts in and brings it down to around a hundred.
My only problem is the power commander and my lcd screen.
When I try to transfer a map I get "power commander not connected" message. Led's scan on the commander at ignition on but just sit at the bottom while the engine runs, any clues?

Oh, and I am drinking a beer right now!

BROOM BROOOM!!! Great feeling when you get the engine running, it finally feels alive!

Even better when you see the tester wincing as he hold it at 7500rpm for the noise test as it kicks out 109dB

Excellent - and you're not the first to make that mistake..... :-) And it means you don't need to strip the tank out!!

I've used http://www.kewego.co.uk/mykewego.phpfor videos in the past - had no problems with it.

Yep I was asked to wire and test a mates gti.

It would run on easy start but not from fuel from the tank.

I found the pump was back to front

Knob!!

The led scan is normal. Not sure about the "not connected". Are you connecting with the engine running?

Have you loaded the latest firmware in your PowerCommander & LCD units? [& PC software]

TTS had problems trying to get their pc to communicate with the PowerCommander on the ZX14 and found that their PC had a previous version of software loaded which did not communicate with the latest PowerCommander firmware.

I'm sure I've had trouble connecting in the past. Can't remember the cause but it was something like i didn't connect soon enough after start up or did things in the wrong order.

Have you stopped grinning yet?

Not sure on later Power Commanders but on mine the PC LEDs related to the TPS position. Is this all working correctly. Did you splice the PC in or use the plugs?

The engine would start and run fine without the PC but obviously not tweaked for SVA max performance.

My boy did one but the decibels killed the mobile phone microphone
I will try again tomorrow but I need a place to host them. Youtube takes too long.

Photobucket for hosting.... Really easy. I do all my photos and videos (Short ones like engine starts and the likes) on there.

I use Facebook, or Vimeo for 'home movies'

And congrats, I think she looks superb.
