MotaLeira, sudden starting problems?
I have been messing around with the paddleshift as the gear selection was a bit soft and I have extended the exhaust with another box for my sva (but
that was in the week and it ran with that). The flatshifter is working because I can here it clicking when I move the paddleshift.
All of a sudden the car has cut out while running, and then it has been hit and miss whether it starts or not since yesterday.
Today it wouldn't start at all.
The fuel pump runs and primes, the engine turns over, but it just will not fire up.
Any advice? Wet plugs?
It seems like electrical to me.

With the work you've been doing on the car for sva have you been doing any welding on the chassis with your battery, and ecu attached? As that
can sometimes damage the electrics

The flat shift works by cutting the coil doesnt it ? If you have adjusted it, maybe you have a fault with either the wiring or adjustmant of it
???????????

Just spoke to Malc (yorkshire engines) and he told me to check if 2 & 3 plugs are firing. If not the ecu has been fried by the flatshifter, which
sort of makes sense because of the gearchange work I've done.
He said that this is a common problem with a flatshifter
Anyone have an 04-06 ecu for sale?
I need one just in case I get an sva cancellation retest.

Is the flatshifter disconnectable? If so - go back to basics and add things step by step?

I'm going to watch the F1 first, but later I will pull the fuse on it.

Try bypassing the flatshifter, i.e. connect the wiring from the ECU direct to the coils.

If you have been doing lots of short starts then plugs for me, take them out and hit woth a blow torch, install hot.
My car is a pita with this, it can be running, stall and not start again.....

Right, Drama over!
I unplugged the flatshifter from the loom (I used superseal plugs in case the flatshifter failed) and made a shorting plug. Still the same
problem.
One of my sva fails was projections on the fire extinguisher. So instead of covering it, I took it (& bracket) out.
The reason that the car was not starting, was a loose earth connection on my power commander caused when I took the extinguisher out.
As the symptom was days after I did this and because I had been working on the shift cable, I didn't think it was the fueling.
At least the panic is over and the car is ready for it's retest.
I was worried because I asked them to ring me if they had a cancellation, rather than book a date.
