R1 breather mod

When people have modified the breather system on a late R1 (5VY) to used the AIS housings as cam cover breathers...

What have you done with the AIS valve?
If you take it out/disconnect it does it throw a fault code?
Can you just connect the 2 wires together or will that cause a code?

As far as I can see it's just a simple solenoid and just opens and shuts with no feed back to tell it's operating other than the circuit not being broken.
