Car weight
what is the lowest possible weight one can safely achieve for a BEC? Is 750 pounds possible?

It really depends on its purpose. For a standard live axle'd roadgoing Locost you'd be doing very well to get it down to 400kgs
"wet" with a blade/R1/ZX9 in there, with an empty fuel tank but with oil/water on board. Mine's about 420kgs in that state, there
are a few places I could save but not too many without throwing big money at it. If you are going IRS then they are generally considered to be a bit
heavier than an equivalent live axle'd car but not by a huge amount.
If it didnt need to be road legal you could strip out all the lighting, only have one seat etc and probably get it lower, but 750lbs (340kgs) is
optimistic Id say. Have a look at Richard Miles's website here. He spent a lot of time getting his road
going R1 Striker as light as possible and managed to get it down to about 380-390kgs I believe, but the Striker would generally be a smidge lighter
than a Locost cos its narrower.
