MPG in BEC
I know I never built my car to be economical, but I just went out to fill the car up as I have an early start tomorrow.
I had only done 48 miles since my last fill up and it cost me £10 to fill her back up again, so it gave me a chance to work out the MPG - I have
worked it out at approx 25mpg does that sound about right..................not really too fussed as I did enjoy those 48 miles

That's OK then, it was driving round the local 'B' roads so bits of 'pootling' too bits of 'making progress'

I got 30 MPG out of my carbed R1 MNR. I drove it to the red line at full throttle in every gear when traffic allowed too so I wasn't being
gentle with it. (when I was running it in I got closer to 40). It wasn't a particularly light weight BEC either. On the track I would get more
like 20 MPG.

I'd be very concerned about ca. 25 mpg, very.
You clearly have a serious problem, but before you panic, I'd advise checking a few simple things: Are the revs being kept above 10K at all
times?; Does the throttle open all the way?; Are the rear tyres smoking on pull-away?
If all is positive in the above, ensure the injection rail is running at ca. 3 Bar.
If all else fails, an overbore, race cams or forced induction might get the mpg down a bit. Good luck, hope you sort it.

You wont get that tomorrow! Last 2 south coast runs I've nearly run out! Lets just say I spent a significant amount of the last run to
Goodwood with the RPM light on

Prefer not to think about it normally lets just say it likes a drink when it gets some stick
Worked it for the first time on our trip to Belgium this year and it averaged 33mpg on the 800+ mile round trip!

Sounds good to me Have to make sure I bring the credit card!!!
To be honest I was suprised by the 25mpg, I have done about 400 miles in the car to date and have not even thought about checking it - will be
interesting to see what the MPG is after tomorrows run!!!!

gota agree with Graham i seemed to get about 5mpg in the busa and 6-7mpg in the blade... track only though - never been a BEC road user yet...

Crikey! Can't believe that some folk are concerned about the MPG figures quoted on this thread! Bloody good if you ask me!
I was a sports-biker for years and would have been delighted to get those figures when blatting!

A long long time ago, so long ago I was living at home still, and staying in when brother, sister, mum and dad were all on individual nights out and I
was skint. My Dad felt sorry for me, and offered a tenner to stick in my bike so that I could take it for a spin - I explained that a tenner would get
me to my G|F's, but not home if I was driving "properly" ( ). Her house was 34 miles away - Jeez, I used to ride that bike hard! Oh
to be fearless and 21 again!!!
At a TD at Anglesey last year, I took a FuryBlade, and couldn't fix a fellow Locosters, Blade Striker that was having problems, and because I
couldn't fix it, I felt quite sorry and lent him the Fury for a couple of sessions!
Gezza from here then in turn lent me his MK (Busa) for a quick spin, took it out, did a few laps, changed some suspension settings and then took it
out in earnest. The MPG figures for the day were:
Gezza's Mate - 5.1 MPG
Gezza - 3.8 MPG
Me - 3.1 MPG

25MPG's just is not trying hard enough!!!

Only 2 of steve's 3.1 mpg were real miles though; The other 1.1 was wheel spin...and having seen that I didn't lend Steve mine!
I get 200 miles from a tank (6.5 gallon) on a long steady run (motorway) and that was when it was running rich. I get half that on the track. If I
need to get into the power band on the road... there's something wrong with the car!

I can just about road test the engine driving to the local petrol station (12 miles away) with the 10 litre tank. Westfield GSXR1000 (Mistral race
unit).
MPG isn't the problem, it's usually MPE.
If I need MPG and boredom I simply get on my Tenere (XT660Z),
