R1 air filter position
Hey guys,
I have an ITG JC40 air filter and blank backing plate on the way for my 2003 R1 engine. Last night, after fitting the throttle bodies with the engine
installed in my mini, I realised there is now very little clearance from master cylinder on my bias pedal box to the end throttle body. I have viewed
other people's threads on mounting the jc40 air filter and the backing plate is centrally mounted with even spacing at each end for the trumpet
holes as you would expect. Now on my mini I can probably just about fit the filter on if I offset the position of the holes in the backing plate,
resulting in the filter no longer sitting centrally. I hope my explanation makes sense but do you think this will have a great effect on air flow to
the individual throttle bodies if the filter is offset? I don't think it will but don't want to go gun hoe cutting the mounting plate if
it's going to adversely affect the running potential of the engine. Opinions are welcomed and appreciated...
Here's a link to a pic of the issue....
