Air filter for 06 Blade RR

Hi all,

Considering the options on making or just buying an air box \ airfilter for a 06 fireblade RR. Pic is below. I dont yet know the clearence to underneath the bonnet but Im sure its not much (but enough i.e. 1.5 X TB butterfly dia). Going through the bonnet is not an option. I dont like the look. I was thinking of using a CDA ram air filter ( do a google) as they have worked well on my previous cars well. They can be mounted else where giving nice cold air feed from a duct at the front.... hmmm tidy.....

My concerns are:
Getting an air tight seal on the TBs
Mounting the fuel rail securly inside
Suitable but QR plugs for both injector and fuel.

Any one got photos of thiers?
AB performance have offered to do one for £500. Hence why Im exploring the idea!

Thanks in advance
Oh and pics of your systems fitted to a 8 injector fireblade would much appreaciated so I know how big the mountain is that im thinking of climbing!!

Getting an airbox to fit a CBR1000RR is complicated by the fact it has two sets of injectors. One set are in the usual position in the throttle bodies, but the other set is mounted in the airbox with the injectors pointing down the trumpets. This means that any airbox you get is going to have to have provision for mounting the secondary injectors, which means that standard aftermarket airboxes are out.

The only airbox I'm aware of other than the factory box which will work is the AB performance one. I very much doubt you'll manage to keep it below the bonnet line without substantial modifications or very low ground clearance.

Pictures of a CBR1000RR with an AB Performance airbox are here
